The Shu Chien – Gene Lay Department of Bioengineering at UC San Diego celebrates 60 years of pioneering research, education, and impact on human health. From early tissue‑engineered constructs to today’s AI‑driven therapeutic design, our mission—“Bioengineering the future of humanity”—remains stronger than ever.
Join us in‑person Friday May 22, 2026 for this milestone celebration with alumni, faculty, staff, and the UC community. Registration for the celebration will open Friday April 3rd.
