Abstract

As technology becomes more complex and cuts across disciplines, a new level of creativity is required of scientists. During twelve years of global research and experiential field work across many cultures and organizations of all kinds, Rita J. King developed the Imagination Age, a method for framing the critical period between the Industrial Era and the Intelligence Era. The primary skill for navigating this frontier is Applied Imagination, which enables practitioners to discern between tangible yet outdated vestiges of the Industrial Era, and nebulous yet critical elements of the emerging Intelligence Era. Results of this research indicate that we may well learn what it means to be human from our interactions with technology.
