Abstract

Social media is increasingly used as a tool to positively impact the career of scientists and medical professionals. Scholars are using the technology to disseminate research, interact with the public, and stay up-to-date on the latest information in their fields. This talk shares examples of how STEM and medical students at Caltech and USC are being taught to use social media in a professional context. It describes the need for such trainings and closes with recommendations that current STEM and medical professionals can use to develop a professional social media presence.
